Historically on GirlsTop, all photosets were rated solely based on a single primary metric—the average user rating —with the total number of votes serving only as a secondary factor.
This approach has become outdated, especially when comparing a large number of photosets. A model’s page is essentially its calling card, and it was observed that sorting solely by rating does not yield sufficiently high-quality results. The top listings can become too static, sometimes featuring very old or low-quality, low-resolution photosets at the top.
To improve the quality of the evaluation, it was decided to use a formula that takes multiple signals into account.
Factors used in the formula:
Base Score
This core component of the rating includes:
- Average User Rating
This remains one of the primary metrics.
- Number of Votes
It also increases the result, with the effect accumulating to roughly 150 votes.
- Behavioral Factors
Behavioral factors, namely the accumulated statistics on photoset viewing time and transitions between photos.
Bonus Signals
- Newness Bonus
A photoset that has just been uploaded receives this bonus, which diminishes the more days pass after the upload. This promotes new posts by potentially propelling them to the top of the listings, although the effect fades over time. The bonus applies during the first 365 days after a post is uploaded, with the most significant impact occurring during the first few weeks.
- Post Speed Bonus
We assess how quickly a newly uploaded post makes it to the homepage. Especially appealing posts tend to be noticed by users and reach the homepage faster, which can be an indicator of quality. Therefore, if a post successfully passes the sandbox stage promptly, it receives this bonus.
- View Count Bonus
This bonus kicks in once a post reaches 500 views, and it increases with the number of views—up to a cap at 3,000 views.
- Comment Count Bonus
Comments serve as an additional signal that a post has captured user interest. We consider up to the first 5 comments, with the bonus increasing as the number of comments rises.
- Quality Bonus
Since the site features both very old, low-resolution photosets and new, high-quality photosets in UHD and 6K, we offer a slight boost to HD photosets, a much stronger boost to UHD photosets, and an even greater boost to 6K photosets. We also provide an extra bonus for AVIF format. In addition, photosets containing a larger number of photos are rewarded.
The overall score was initially applied to sorting sets on model’s pages with name “Relevance.” The new sorting option is now used by default, elevating the model’s page to a new standard of quality.
